Course Description

This course is intended to provide law enforcement officers the training to successfully engage deadly force targets at distances up to 300 yards utilizing a Designated Patrol Rifle (DMR). This is not a SWAT sniper course as participants will be using an “improved” patrol rifle. A DMR will allow law enforcement officers the ability to engage threats at extended distances and/or provide overwatch while other resources are implemented.

Prerequisite

This is a law enforcement course, and applicants should be currently employed as a law enforcement officer. The successful completion of a basic AR15 platform carbine/rifle user course is required.

  • DMR Optics
  • DMR Accessory Considerations
  • Zeroing and Range Estimation
  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship
  • Weapon Management
  • Conventional and Unconventional Shooting Positions
  • Ballistics
  • Dim Light Shooting
  • Use of Force Considerations

Student Requirements

  • AR15 Style of Weapon (5.6 mm or .223)
  • Magnified Optic (ie 1-4X, 1-6X or 1-8X), True 1X for conventional shooting
  • Weapon Mounted Light (Cloud Defensive Rein, Surefire Scout etc)
  • Weapon Mounted Bi Pod Recommended
  • 3 Magazines (at least one 20 round magazine for prone position shooting)
  • Standard duty belt with handgun, (3) magazines, flashlight etc
  • Eye and Ear Protection
  • Ballistic Vest (Soft Armor)
  • Note Taking Material
  • Appropriate Clothing for Weather Conditions
  • Accessory Considerations (Small Pack, Sunscreen etc)
  • Approximately 800 Rounds of ammunition that will function accurately in your weapon
